Tilth Alliance Brand Redesign

Overview

For HCDE 308, a course on Visual Communication, our final project was to create a redesigned visual system for a client company in the form of a brand book including, but not limited to: logo, color palette, typography and type hierarchy, and a mobile system flow.

My client was Tilth Alliance, an alliance of Washington State farm and garden organizations. Their purpose is to support farmers and gardeners in Washington State and provide the community with resources on farming, gardening, and produce.

My goal was to revitalize Tilth Alliance's current visual system. I sought to promote a rustic, friendly, environmental feeling, while at the same time modernizing and adding more vibrancy to their brand system. A difficult issue to tackle was Tilth Alliance's current visual system's outdatedness and lack of hierarchy. Over the process of creating this brand book I conducted client and current brand research and created personas to help align my work to the needs of Tilth Alliance users. These practices, as well as UX design considerations like whitespace, balance, and hierarchy allowed me to refresh Tilth Alliance's visual system.
